How to find us

The department of physics is located on the campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Although it is situated in a nature reserve the institut is very easy to reach (see map):

By car:
    Motorway A8 Karlsruhe-München:
at the intersection "Stuttgart" take A81/A831 (direction Vaihingen/Stuttgart), exit "Universität" (3rd exit past intersection)
By train:
    At the central station "Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof" take one of the following S-Bahn trains:
  • S1 (to Herrenberg)
  • S2 or S3 (to Vaihingen/Flughafen/ Filderstadt)
get off at "Universität". Trains leave every 5 or 10 minutes and take 10 minutes for the journey.
By plane:
    At the airport take
  • S2 (to Schorndorf)
  • S3 (to Backnang)
get off at "Universität". Trains leave every 10 or 20 minutes and take 17 minutes for the journey.
Hints for S-Bahn users:
  • In both cases tickets for 2 zones are requested.

  • Most of the institutes of the Physics Department are located at Pfaffenwaldring 57 (NWZ II) - about 5 minutes walk from the S-Bahn station. The IHFG and the ICP (Allmandring 3) can be reached in 8 - 10 minutes. At the S-Bahn station "Universität" take the North exit (signposted "Universität").
