Summary

In the second funding period we plan activities with regard to public understanding of the research topics within CO.CO.MAT. The goal will be to expand our existing collection of hands-on experiments "Spiel der Kräfte" with experiments that explain the basic physics behind our research. The CO.CO.MAT experiments are an attempt to share our enthusiasm for physics with people of all ages and different levels of physics education. Therefore the demonstrations are designed to be educational but more importantly stimulating and enjoyable. In the present situation where young children have been losing interest in science, and in particular physics, this kind of approach is thought to be absolutely essential. The CO.CO.MAT modul within "Spiel der Kräfte" will reach high school students and other interested people in four years of the funding period on several levels with the following moduls:

Permanent exhibition in Stuttgart.
Presentations at university events
Development and set-up of a school lab on elementary up to advanced highschool level
